Screenprinting - Studio practice

Updated: Mar 24, 2020

This is a screen print from my first year at University. This was a practical process of me experiencing printmaking techniques in-depth. Although, this was my first attempt in producing screen prints. I have discovered that drawings or images have to be dominant for it to be screen printed in-depth and to be seen clearly. However, in my professional studio practice, I like to experiment more with anything that possibly can go wrong. When producing screenprints, there are so many ways of conveying a print and can have so many ideas and techniques on how I approach it from the use of materials, the colours and the movement when moving the silkscreens. By using the techniques of screen printing, I can approach it by using any type of material; so there is no right or wrong. I like exploring different types of materials to see various outcomes. Screenprints can be formed from drawings, paintings, photographs. Anything can be screen printed as long as it is documented as a photograph or a scanned piece of work. I like challenging myself and experiencing and developing something new. This screenprint shows my journeys around London and shows a dominant effect of blurriness which connects into me representing myself with lack of confidence as a younger individual during my melancholic past. I am exploring the terminology 'melancholia'. This screenprint has a melancholia vision. During my future practice, I will develop new ideas and continue experimenting with various methods from screenprinting.

These photos above present my professional studio practice working condition in the printing room; where I specialise in printing making. I like developing, experiencing and discovering something new every time I go in there being productive. These are documentations on, how I work with challenging scales in-depth; will continue to develop during my future practice.
