Artist Biography

Ruby Khan

Ruby Khan is a contemporary artist. She is born and raised in London. She studied at Uxbridge College while achieving her Diplomas in Art and Design for a total of four years. She progressed successfully and discovered distinct creative techniques within the art industry throughout her studies. From a young age, Ruby had a desire for Fine Art.


She has recently graduated with a Fine Arts BA (Hons) degree at the University of East London. Ruby Khan’s practice is ambitious in her approach to all the artworks she produces. She looks in-depth inherently on her emotional past; looking at her particular experiences, journeys, memories. Also, she encounters the diversity and the history of London.


Her work is celebrating the physical and emotional journey she has undertaken throughout her life. At a young age, Ruby attended art therapy sessions during her childhood. She had interests in art, producing artworks in her therapy sessions. She had a passion for drawing and painting. Throughout her life art has helped Ruby’s development in speaking and writing. At the age of five, Ruby was diagnosed with a speech-language impairment; affecting her self-confidence. Through the ongoing; support from her mother and a charity called Contact A Family, Ruby has grown into a strong independent and fearless individual.


Ruby’s work conveys her journeys of London organised by Contact A Family. All of her, work is based on experiences and the impact they held throughout her life; she was overwhelmed. She uses drawing, printmaking, painting, photography, installation and sculpture methods. Her work communicates memories around London, utilising it to convey her repeated experiences. She initially is influenced by German Expressionist art as she uses flowers, shapes, abstract colours and gestural mark-making. She is available for commissions.
