Here's a sneak peek on what is to be seen in our virtual exhibition coming up soon. We have produced our collaboration during the lockdown. We are excited to announce our virtual show is taking place on 05/01/21 - 04/02/21. Stay tuned. Ruby Khan and Marta Betancourt are contemporary collaborative artists based in London. They are currently studying Fine Arts BA in their 3rd year at The University Of East London. They both are working with the theme of the unconscious and spiritual awakening. The collaboration idea came about in their years of studying at The University Of East London. Ruby Khan and Marta Betancourt are collaborative artists that practice ambitiously in their approaches to all the artworks they produce.


They both discover and use distinct creative techniques within the Art industry throughout their studies; through this collaboration by connecting in spontaneous ways. The collaborative exhibition is titled Embracing the unconscious and spiritual awakening. The collaboration exhibition will be taken place online as a virtual show; exhibiting a variety of outstanding individual artists works and collaborative works. They will all be accessible on this site. For all other social media platforms; the links to social media platform icons are linked on this site. Embracing the unconscious and spiritual awakening concept has a lot of their hidden meanings towards these individual collaborative artists. The collaboration artists work with the same artist influences. They both influenced by the artists Jackson Pollock, William Morris, Idris khan, Stephanie Jung, Curl Jung, Mark Rothko, Hilma Klint and Anges Martin. The collaborative artists work with a lot of artists influences; helps them to engage in within their practices of the artworks they produce. The artist influences have worked with issues related to the unconscious and spiritual awakening from different angles.


The collaborative artists connect their ideas collaboratively together. The collaboration artists work within a combination of abstraction, surrealism, action painting and performance art which connects the unconscious and spiritual through the individual artists. The collaborative artists relate to the title as they both are encountering their personal experiences. The collaboration artists also express their works through the use of colour, mark-making and the overwhelming effect connecting dominantly towards the unconscious and spiritual awakening. Both collaborative artists have experienced a journey in life where they had felt the unconscious and spiritual awakening expressed.


The collaboration artists also work with shadows to release the unconscious from the use of light and shadow. The light reveals hidden meanings from the shadows. The light and shadow show dominant intensity expressing the unconscious. The collaborative artist has explored using acrylic paints, gloss paints, oil crayons, screen printing, paper, light, wood, canvas and MDF. The collaboration artists; each works differently using a variety of materials combined. Although they both work in different ways, they both explore the theme of the unconscious where it leads them to develop works meditatively; which has a connection towards them.
