Artist Influence - Stephanie Jung

Updated: Mar 25, 2020

The title of this work is titled, Potsdamer Platz. She uses photography in her work with a camera. The images she creates are unplanned. She takes photos of buildings and the views around her. She likes to show, the urban energy from her overlapped photographs. I would like to communicate a similar effect in photography and printmaking preferences. Her work captures special moments getting lost in time; whereas I also convey my emotional moments in time; which relates dominantly well. Her work is mainly New York, Blossoms, Floral Landscapes and Nature; whereas I principally look at London. Her photography encouraged her work by capturing special moments in a hectic mood showing the city life. I show my significances at London at times where I felt hectic and insecure by getting the blurriness and repetition in the screenprints I primarily produce. Her main influences came in her passion for experimental photography and like to vision a mood by capturing a moment of city life; whereas I have been influenced by drawing and printmaking. However, I could investigate experimental photography in the future. In her work, I can see the blurry effects in depth. It makes me feel confused, stressed and shows emotions. However, I would like to communicate that effect on reflecting in my past on how I sensed claustrophobia. It does remind me of an overlapped effect to an image. Her work includes movement, rhythm and contrast. She expresses the city life. I researched Stephanie Jung because her photography makes me imagine more in-depth. However, how I transform her specialism in photography by converting it into the fine arts movement where I explore the elements of drawing, photography and printmaking. For future development for professional studio practice, I would concentrate on buildings around London mainly on my journeys, memories and experiences experimenting with combinations of photography and printmaking techniques.
